The report helps program administrators quickly see which courses support specific standards and how extensively they are mapped. This makes it easier to monitor curriculum mapping progress, identify heavily or lightly mapped standards, and detect potential gaps in curriculum alignment.
Programs commonly use the Heatmap Report during curriculum review and accreditation preparation to validate curriculum coverage and support accreditation readiness.
Overview
The Heatmap Report in Exxat Prism helps Physician Assistant (PA) programs understand how their curriculum aligns with the standards defined by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant under the ARC-PA 6th Edition Standards.
ARC-PA requires PA programs to demonstrate that their curriculum, learning outcomes, and instructional activities align with accreditation standards and provide sufficient coverage of required competencies.
The Heatmap Report provides a visual summary that highlights:
Which course offerings are mapped to specific ARC-PA standards
How many course measures support each standard
How curriculum mappings are distributed across the program
This overview helps administrators quickly determine whether standards are adequately represented within the curriculum.
Program administrators can use the Heatmap Report to:
Monitor curriculum mapping progress across courses and standards
Identify standards that are heavily or lightly mapped within the curriculum
Detect potential gaps or redundancies in curriculum alignment
Prepare for curriculum reviews and accreditation readiness
By providing a high-level visual snapshot of curriculum alignment, the Heatmap Report helps programs quickly assess how well their courses support ARC-PA standards.
This makes it easier for programs to:
Review curriculum coverage
Validate alignment with accreditation standards
Prepare supporting documentation for accreditation reporting
Overall, the Heatmap Report helps PA programs maintain continuous visibility into curriculum alignment and accreditation readiness.

Understanding the Heatmap Report
The heatmap provides a visual representation of curriculum mappings.
Report Structure
| Axis | Description |
|---|---|
| X-axis | Accreditation standards |
| Y-axis | Course offering name and number |
| Cell Value | Number of course measures mapped to the standard |
Each cell shows the count of mapped course measures for that specific course offering and standard combination.
Interactive Details
When you hover over any cell, the report displays additional information, including:
Standard Code
Course Details
Total Measures Mapped for that course offering and standard
This allows administrators to quickly understand how mappings contribute to curriculum coverage.
Color Legend
A color legend appears on the right side of the report.
The legend represents the distribution of mapping counts, ranging from:
Minimum number of mapped measures
Maximum number of mapped measures
Cells with darker colors indicate a higher number of mappings, while lighter colors indicate fewer mappings.
