What are Bookmarks?
Bookmarks allow you to save articles and community posts for quick access later. Your bookmarks are stored locally in your browser and can be exported for backup.
Adding Bookmarks
To bookmark an article or post:
- Navigate to any article or community post
- Click the Bookmark icon (outline bookmark) near the top of the page
- The icon will fill in to confirm the item has been bookmarked
Note: You can bookmark up to 250 items by default.
Viewing Your Bookmarks
To access your bookmarks:
- Click the Bookmark button on the right side of your screen (pink bookmark icon)
- A sidebar will open showing all your saved bookmarks
- Click any bookmark title to navigate to that article or post
Organizing Bookmarks
Search
Use the search box at the top of the bookmarks sidebar to find specific bookmarks by title, URL, category, or type.
Filter by Type
Use the filter buttons to show:
- All - Shows both articles and posts
- Articles - Shows only bookmarked articles
- Posts - Shows only bookmarked community posts
Sort Options
Sort your bookmarks by:
- Date Added (Newest) - Most recently added first
- Date Added (Oldest) - Oldest bookmarks first
- A-Z - Alphabetical order
- Z-A - Reverse alphabetical order
Removing Bookmarks
To remove a bookmark:
- From the article/post: Click the filled bookmark icon to unbookmark
- From the sidebar: Click the trash icon next to the bookmark you want to remove
Export and Import
Exporting Bookmarks
To backup your bookmarks:
- Open the bookmarks sidebar
- Click the Export button
- A JSON file will be downloaded with all your bookmarks
Importing Bookmarks
To restore bookmarks from a backup:
- Open the bookmarks sidebar
- Click the Import button
- Select your previously exported JSON file
- Bookmarks will be merged with existing ones (duplicates are skipped)
Mobile & Small Screens
On smaller screens, the search and filter options are hidden by default to show more bookmarks. Click the "Search & Filters" button to expand these options when needed.
Tips & Best Practices
- Regularly export your bookmarks as a backup
- Use descriptive categories to organize content
- Remove outdated bookmarks to keep your list manageable
- Use the search feature to quickly find what you need
- The bookmark count shows how many items you've saved
Troubleshooting
Bookmarks disappeared
Bookmarks are stored in your browser. If you clear your browser data or use a different browser/device, you won't see your bookmarks. Always export regularly to prevent data loss.
Can't add more bookmarks
You may have reached the maximum limit (default 250). Remove some old bookmarks or export and clear your list to start fresh.
Import not working
Make sure you're importing a valid JSON file that was exported from this bookmarking system.
