Exxat Prism supports programs in documenting and explaining the design, structure, and integration of the generalist practice curriculum by enabling structured curriculum mapping, attribute-based analysis, and curriculum sequencing views. Together, these tools allow programs to demonstrate how classroom and field components are aligned and delivered consistently across program options.

 

Curriculum Mapping Module

Programs should use the Curriculum Mapping module to document how the generalist practice curriculum is designed and how learning objectives align with the nine CSWE competencies and other standards.

Note: Support is available to help you get started with the initial curriculum mapping process. Contact your Account Manager to request assistance.

  • Map course objectives, learning objectives, or entire courses to the nine CSWE competencies for each required course.

  • Review mappings to ensure that competencies are intentionally distributed across courses and across program options.

Curriculum Mapping Cumulative Report

Programs can generate the Curriculum Mapping Cumulative Report to obtain an aggregated view of curriculum structure across all mapped courses.

  • Curriculum Mapping Cumulative Report shows how courses align with competencies and provides visual evidence of:

    • Overall curriculum structure

    • Distribution of generalist practice content across multiple course types (didactic and field) 

    • Systematic alignment across the program

  • The report can be used to support the program’s narrative describing how the generalist curriculum is designed and integrated.

Course Database

Programs can maintain course records in the Course Database, including:

  • Course title and number

  • Credit hours

  • Catalog descriptions

This information serves as foundational data for demonstrating program structure and curriculum rationale.

The Generate Syllabus feature can be used to download course-related information in a syllabus format, supporting documentation and reference during accreditation review.

Curriculum Grid

Exxat Prism provides a Curriculum Grid that displays courses sequenced across academic terms.

Programs can use this view to:

  • Show the progression of the generalist curriculum over time

  • Illustrate how classroom and field components are sequenced across terms

  • Review curriculum delivery across program options

This term-by-term view can be used to support compliance item (d) by illustrating consistent delivery of the generalist practice curriculum.

These capabilities allow programs to generate the evidence required for Form Academic Standard 3.1.2 and Volume 2 syllabus submissions.

 

Curriculum Mapping Module

Programs can use the Curriculum Mapping module to align each required course with the nine CSWE competencies.

  • Programs can map courses and associated learning objectives to the CSWE competencies to demonstrate where each competency is addressed within the curriculum.

  • Additionally, core assignments can be added as Course Measure and then be mapped to corresponding competencies within Curriculum Mapping module.

The Measure Level Attributes feature within the Curriculum module in Exxat Prism can be used to assign “Dimensions of Learning” to learning objectives and core assignments from the mapping screen

Similarly, Course Attributes can be used to assign Client System Levels to a course.

 

Both Measure level attributes and Course attributes need to first be defined from the Attributes screen under the Curriculum Mapping section.

Once attributes are created, they also need to be selected in the setup of your curriculum map for them to show on the mapping screen.

Curriculum Mapping Cumulative Report

  • Programs can generate the Curriculum Mapping Cumulative Report to view how the curriculum collectively addresses all nine CSWE competencies.

  • This report provides an aggregate view of competency coverage across courses and can be used as supporting documentation when completing Form Academic Standard 3.1.2.

Course Database and Syllabi Repository

Exxat Prism stores course titles, numbers, credits, catalog descriptions, and uploaded syllabi in a centralized Course Database.

Programs can use this repository to:

  • Link mapped courses directly to their corresponding syllabi

  • Support Volume 2 evidence requirements by ensuring that syllabi referenced in Form Academic Standard 3.1.2 are readily available and consistently documented

 

Accreditation Standard M3.2 — Specialized Practice

Exxat's Support for the Standard

Exxat Prism supports programs in demonstrating how each area of specialized practice is built upon and extends the generalist practice curriculum, as required by M3.2.2. 

The platform provides both the structural framework, and the reporting tools programs need to make the generalist-to-specialized progression visible, documented, and accessible for accreditation review.

 

Curriculum Mapping Module

Programs configure both generalist and specialized practice competencies as distinct frameworks within Exxat Prism, enabling a clear structural separation between the two levels while also demonstrating their connection. 

Programs should:

  1. Configure the nine CSWE competencies (and any additional program-defined competencies) as the generalist practice framework in Program Details → Standards, reflecting the competencies addressed in Education Policy 3.1.

 

  1. Create a parallel specialized practice competency framework for each specialization practice offered (Example:  Advanced Clinical Practice, Policy and Advocacy, Management and Administration), reflecting the extended and enhanced competencies for that area per Education Policy M3.2.

  2. Map course-level measures (course objectives or learning outcomes) from generalist-phase courses to the generalist framework, and measures from specialized-phase courses to the relevant specialized practice framework.

 

System Level Identification and Cross-Standard Consistency

The standard requires programs to identify which of the five system levels (individuals, families, groups, organizations, communities) are relevant to each specialized practice area and specifies that these must match those identified in Academic Standard M3.2.1, Academic Standard M3.2.4, and Academic Standard 5.0.1(a).  

This can be achieved by using Course Attribute functionality within Curriculum Mapping.

An attribute called Client System Levels can be set up under Attributes > Course and Measure Attributes Section within curriculum mapping; this contains the five system levels as defined by CSWE.

When creating a curriculum mapping setup, ensure Client System Levels is selected under select attributes for course section.

Once the setup is done, when mapping a course, select appropriate Client System Level as an attribute for the specialization course.

  Cumulative Report

A Cumulative Report can be used to demonstrate how specialization courses map with specialization competency framework along with the identified Client System Levels for each course.

Exxat Prism’s Agencies module maintains detailed profiles of each field site, including setting type, population served, and nature of services provided.


 

  • Affiliation agreements and placement approvals stored in Exxat Prism serve as documentation that sites have been vetted for competency-based, specialized practice experiences.

  • Additionally, Exxat Prism’s Assessments feature within Agencies module helps tracking site visit and implementation of a more robust vetting process

  • Agency evaluation and approval: Exxat Prism can support programs in assessing field agencies before or during placement use, helping determine whether the agency is appropriate for student learning, supervision, safety, and alignment with Social Work field education expectations.

  • Structured agency assessment forms: Programs can configure assessment forms to capture agency-level information such as services provided, populations served, practice areas, supervision model, learning opportunities, onboarding requirements, and overall placement quality.

Learning Agreements 

  • Learning Contracts (or Learning Agreements) can be configured to include goals and activities mapped to the nine CSWE competencies.

  • Examples of completed Learning Agreements can be downloaded from Exxat to demonstrate actual student tasks aligned with each system level.

To configure learning activities to include goals and activities mapped to CSWE Competencies, use Comprehensive Report for Placement Based Form.

To create generate de-identified example of filled forms as needed by CSWE, export the report to excel, and once downloaded remove the columns containing any identifying information of the students.

Field Hour Tracking Mechanism

  • Exxat Prism provides a Timesheet that allows students to log in-person and virtual field hours.

  • Each timesheet entry records the date, activity description, site, and Category.

  • Field Instructors  approve or reject hours electronically, ensuring validated hour totals.

  • Students can choose between Field Instructor and Task Supervisor to be the reviewer for the hours logged

  • The program administrator can also review and approve or reject the logged hours

  • The Category field can be customized as per program’s requirements and can be leveraged to track individual, group, supervision or seminar hours

  • Additionally, students can enter their break hours within the time of entry, and the system will automatically deduct those from the total time logged. This aligns with CSWE guideline that breaks and time-offs cannot be counted towards field hours.

 

Hours By Categories Report

You can leverage the Hours by Category report to track how many hours students have logged across all their experiences. This can be used to monitor each student’s accrual of field experience hours.

Student Overview

The Overview dashboard under Students section gives a snapshot of students’ placement as well as course work. It also shows the total number of hours that have been logged by the student throughout the program.

Articulation to Students and Field Personnel

  • Field hour requirements can be clearly stated in the Student Handbook, Field Manual, Field Course Syllabi, and also include in the Student Resources section in Exxat Prism.

  • The Site Resources page can be used to share the field hour requirements with field personnel

  • Field orientation materials can be uploaded to Student Resources in Student Resources section of Exxat Prism to communicate expectations for approved activities, hour validation, and submission frequency.

  • Agency evaluation and approval: Exxat Prism’s Assessments feature within the Agencies module help track agency identification, approval, and engagement processes. Programs can setup separate forms for vetting a new site, for regular monitoring of an existing site and for tracking site visits during student placements.

  • Structured agency assessment forms: Programs can configure assessment forms to capture agency-level information such as services provided, populations served, practice areas, supervision model, learning opportunities, onboarding requirements, and overall placement quality.

3.3.4.a.ii. Orienting and Engaging with Field Instructors

Field Instructor Database and Orientation Tracking

Field Instructors are recorded in Exxat Prism’s Personnel Module and linked to their respective agencies and placements.

 
Placement Notifications:

Once a student is placed at an Agency, Exxat Prism allows administrators to send email notifications to the Field Instructors that are assigned to the placements, informing them of orientation schedules and other placement related information beforehand.

 

Uploading certificates of completion of orientation programs:

After a Field Instructor completes the orientation program, programs can make use of the certification section within the certification section of Agencies > Personnel module to add a certificate of completion under their profile.

It is also useful to add the certificate of completion here as it makes it possible to track whether all instructors assigned to placement have completed orientation or not through Placement Clearance dashboard within the Placements module.

Exxat Prism allows programs to log ongoing site visits and tag Placements wherever applicable

3.3.4 a.iii Evaluating Field Instructor and Field Setting Effectiveness

Evaluation Mechanisms

  • Exxat Prism's  Post-Placement Surveys can be configured for students and faculty liaisons to evaluate both field settings and Field Instructors.

  • Feedback can be gathered on supervision quality, safety, and opportunities for competency-based learning.

  • Survey results can be analyzed at the agency or instructor level, providing data to renew, reapprove, or discontinue relationship with sunset sites.

Reports for Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Reports under Agencies → Interventions & Communications summarize engagement activities, evaluation results, and renewal actions.

  • Reports like Comprehensive report for placement forms, aggregate reports for placement forms in Learning Activities provides evidence of systematic evaluation and continuous monitoring of site and instructor effectiveness.
